Watery

What a contrast! Especially after the substantial meal we had last night.

The D.M. still fixed himself something real. Me, I am stuck with clear broth. At least I have a good excuse to use my wonderful cup -- the one with the little lid to keep things hot.

Is this a pre-holidays diet? Not exactly. A medical procedure tomorrow morning requires me to clear out my system. Ahem.

But really, I shouldn't whine. If my dad had been better about getting such tests, who knows, he might still be around to join us for supper now and then.

No solids allowed

And boy, does that make for a day's worth of boring meals!

Supper is a bowl of clear chicken broth. The only thing green in the meal (besides me) is the Jell-O -- and I'm not sure whether it counts as dessert or salad.

Doing just a small bit of physical work late this afternoon, I realized how little energy I had. This realization made me very grateful for the fact that hunger isn't an everyday experience for me.

Special dinner for a special guest

The Arts Council where I help out is sponsoring a reading tonight. The author and her husband are here for supper. They present a bit of a challenge -- or at least some thought -- as he's diabetic and she has a number of allergies. To stay healthy, she practises a special rotation diet, so I needed to know what today's elements were. Happily, we were able to figure out a meal that would work for all of us: baked chicken, basmati rice, carrots, squash, and of course a green salad.
